Bruce MacDonald is a writer and photographer based in Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
From 2005 to 2016 he served as head of communications for Accion, an international nonprofit dedicated to microfinance and financial inclusion, and as head of communications for its Washington D.C.-based think tank, the Center for Financial Inclusion.
Prior to Accion, he managed analyst and investor relations, media relations and international marketing communications for U.S. and European technology companies, spending nearly a dozen years living and working abroad. He has also served as senior vice president of a Boston-based public relations firm specializing in crisis communications.
He began his professional career as a journalist, working for nearly 10 years as a reporter and magazine editor in Boston and London. He has won awards for his writing in both the U.S. and the U.K.
A native of New England, he holds a B.A. in English Literature from Drew University and a Masters from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies.
